I think the best thing about about the year "2010" is that most people will call it Twenty-Ten.
Nice and simple. Only three syllables! [Not, God forbid, two thousand and ten. Ugh!]
This means a return to calling the first two digits of the year one number, and the last two digits another number. For example: 1948 is nineteen forty-eight.
I think that most of the years of this decade have been ponderous to pronounce, e.g., 2007 was two thousand and seven — and that's too many syllables. Twenty oh seven would have been just fine by me.
Hello Twenty Ten! Happy to see you!
I agree whole-heartedly. Simple is better.

You're on to something here. Most of the years in this decade have been pronounced with one or more syllables than necessary.
Although, it would have been kind of cool to have had the year 2000 be pronounced twenty-hundred.

But Roger, I thought everyone in America said "Two thousand seven". (Not "Two thousand and seven".)
You're shattering my illusions! :-)

Mark! Either way, it's at least a syllable too long. All poets know that!

Yeah, the return to two syllables will be a welcome change hahaha

Good call!
Personally, I'm "looking" forward to 20-20 when we will have perfect vision again!

Roger - You're right, there are few things in heaven and earth more likely to provoke feelings of irritation than a superfluity of syllables. ;-)

10-20-2010 will be a good date of birth to have (or wedding date if you want to get married on a Wed.) The month & day are the year backwards.
01-02-2010 is interesting b/c the month & day are a mirror image of the year.
Can anyone think of any other interesting looking dates for 2010?

@Suzanne If you live in Europe, getting married on October 20, 2010 will be 20-10-2010 or
Twenty-Ten, Twenty-Ten. Pretty Cool!
